BOOK HELP, INSTRUCTIONS AND TIPS!

After some friendly requests by email I finally decided to write some notes here to give some help, advice and tips for using my ThinkerBooks and PolyglotBooks available at the download page.
Actually I should have done this long before, because e.g. my ThinkerBook downloads practically only were useful for a bunch of hardcore experts for several reasons.
Sorry for this, but I simply forgot that it is impossible to know all about this, especially if you came to Winboard after 2004 or so ;-)

The most important thing first. My ThinkerBooks only can be run with the right version
of the BookThinker exe! Latest Thinker itself from Oct. 2004 also cannot use my available
books. AFAIK Thinker up to version 4.6c should be able to run those.
I have two reasons for using an older and different BookThinker exe(and MakeBook exe of course too)
for creating my ThinkerBooks. The first one is that it uses a compressed format which cuts
the size of the book about 4 or 5:1. The second and more important one is that Lance Perkins
also had programmed a little tool called 'Booktotext', which transforms the book binary file
to a text only file with all moves and move propabilities. Thus the user can see what games
and possibly undesired moves still entered the book and he can delete or change them in the
PGN basic file used for the book making process.
Both the compression and the tool for back transformation were not available anymore
for the latest public Thinker version.
